Collection notesIllustrative case study

Presenting a seasonal range across two pages

Illustrative case study: a hypothetical shop has a seasonal range and approved product imagery. This example considers how the homepage introduction and collection page could share a direction without becoming identical layouts.

Illustrative example based on a fictional business.

The material to work with

Imagine a shop with a confirmed seasonal selection and several approved images. The images vary: some show a whole product, while others focus on material or detail. The creative question is how to use that range of views to introduce the collection and support browsing.

The first discussion would establish the collection's role. The owner would confirm the product grouping and the wording that describes it. Visual direction would then develop around that agreed selection rather than relying on a mood to explain why the products belong together.

Two connected arrangements

A possible homepage treatment uses one strong image and a short introduction to the collection. It gives the range a distinct place within the store without trying to show every product in the opening.

The collection page can use a more deliberate sequence of product views. A larger image might introduce the material character, followed by a readable product arrangement. Crops and typography would remain related to the homepage treatment, while the page gives browsing the space it needs.

Reviewing the proposal

The owner would review the page arrangements with the actual product information and the supplied images. The review would include narrow layouts and any crop that changes substantially with the available space.

This example is hypothetical and reports no sales or engagement result. It illustrates a creative decision about continuity: the homepage makes an introduction and the collection page develops it. The direction should remain recognisable across both, with each layout suited to the amount of information and the browsing task it carries.
